The great Arabian thinker, “Ali Mohamed Elshorafa Elhamadi,” writes that Prophet Mohamed, peace be upon him, migrated from the center of polytheism and disbelief in Mecca to Al-Madina in order to achieve his goal and spread the message of Islam, along with safety, security, and peace. Thus, the City of Light became the launching point for monotheism and for planting faith and divine light in people’s hearts — leading them from darkness into light.
Elshorafa continues by stating: “The Da’wah was launched from Al-Madina with divine light, where mercy, tolerance, and forgiveness were manifest. Therefore, we must commemorate the Prophet’s migration by returning to the Qur’an, which serves as a fortress and strong protection against disobedience, sin, and wrongdoing — enabling humanity to attain a decent life free from poverty and misery. Allah says: ‘And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.’”
Details in the following essay:
Elshorafa Elhamadi says that Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) had to migrate to Al-Madina after being besieged by the enemies of Islam, who allied against Allah’s Da’wah. This Da’wah called them to the path of goodness, inviting them to mercy, justice, peace, and solidarity among people, in order to establish security and social peace — so that human societies might live in stability and safety. Many people faced tyranny and suffering to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to the Prophet by Allah: to convey Allah’s verses and legislation to humanity, and to clarify the paths of goodness and peace.
Islam unveils deception:
Alshorafa goes on to say: “Everyone who feared for his status and personal interests perceived the message of Islam as a threat — exposing their lies and revealing the deceit they used to mislead people through fabricated stories and legends. Thus, they united against the Prophet’s Da’wah. In addition, they feared the revelation of their distortion of previous holy scriptures and their unjust actions, including oppression and killing. The Quraysh tribe and other groups who saw Islam as a threat to their personal gain conspired against the Prophet. They besieged him and tortured his companions.”
To fulfill the responsibility revealed in the Qur’an and deliver it to people sincerely — without deviation, distortion, or forgery — the Prophet had no choice but to migrate to Al-Madina. He knew the magnitude of the trust he bore. He did not fear injustice nor hesitate in the face of tyranny. He migrated carrying the light that illuminated the path of goodness, peace, justice, and mercy for all people, promising them a secure and dignified life in this world and eternal bliss in the hereafter.
The true Sunnah of Prophet Mohamed:
Elshorafa affirms that Allah, through His verses in the Qur’an, opened the path to success and faith for all. He also warned of a Day when no intercessor or mediator would avail — a Day when each soul is held accountable for its actions. Neither wealth nor offspring will be of benefit except for those who come with a sound heart.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) called upon people to follow the Qur’an, adhere to its laws, and live by its ethics — for this is the true Sunnah. His interactions with his family, relatives, and members of society — regardless of their beliefs or religions — were guided by Qur’anic principles. He treated them as brothers in humanity, calling them with wisdom and good preaching to follow the verses that transform worldly life into happiness, safety, and dignity — promising them Paradise if they abide by the Qur’an.
He cited:
“Then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]. And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” (Taha: 123–124)
He promised them what Allah had promised:
“Indeed, those who have said, ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remained steadfast — the angels will descend upon them [saying], ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.’”
Migration, suffering, and achieving the goals:
Elshorafa continues by stating: “Peace be upon him — the Prophet strove for the sake of Allah. He endured being exiled from Mecca, his birthplace, and separated from his family and relatives. He bore the difficulties of carrying the responsibility and delivering the message of Islam in the Holy Qur’an — commanding people as Allah had commanded him.”
He faced all conspiracies with certainty in Allah’s victory. He overcame all the trials that aimed to halt his mission or destroy the message revealed by Allah. During the Farewell Pilgrimage, he declared the completion of his mission, citing from the Qur’an:
“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.”
Prophet Mohamed as a guide, bearer of glad tidings, and warner:
Elshorafa concludes: “May peace be upon you, Prophet Mohamed. You were a mercy for all people and a role model for all Muslims through your ethics and conduct. You were merciful, forgiving, and kind to the poor and helpless. You were a great teacher to humanity and an exemplary figure. Allah granted you noble characteristics and praised you. He concluded the messages through you and gave you the highest honor by naming you His messenger and the seal of the prophets. Peace and Allah’s satisfaction be upon you — you conveyed the message faithfully and served as a guide, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner.”
